Gurugram’s Upcoming Metro Station at Dwarka Expressway Spur to Enhance Connectivity

Gurugram is set to see a significant improvement in its public transport infrastructure with the construction of a new metro station on the Dwarka Expressway spur. This station will be strategically located in Sector 101, providing essential metro connectivity to thousands of residents living along the expressway. Built on a one-acre plot, the station will feature advanced amenities and a unique design to meet the growing demand for efficient public transport in the area.

The upcoming station will be approximately 140 meters long and 23 meters wide, with two entry and exit points for passengers, ensuring smooth movement for commuters. A key feature of the station will be a foot overbridge equipped with escalators, connecting both sides of the road and providing easy access for travelers. Furthermore, the metro station will include a drop-off point for buses, autos, and e-rickshaws, transforming it into a convenient transit hub for various modes of transport.

Metro authorities have requested an additional 371 square meters of land to build an entrance to the station. This request has been submitted in a letter to the Haryana Sahakari Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSHVP). The station’s design is being developed by Systra, a well-known consulting firm, and its construction aligns with the city’s increasing need for better infrastructure.

Originally, this site was intended for the Gurugram metro depot. However, due to concerns over high water levels in Basai that could lead to waterlogging and damage to the depot, the decision was made to relocate the depot to Sector 33, where 40 acres of vacant land is available. Consequently, the metro station will now be constructed at the Dwarka Expressway spur, a move expected to enhance accessibility for residents living in the neighboring sectors.

The tender for the construction of the spur has been issued and is anticipated to be opened on May 15. This extension from the initial tender date of April 22 was necessary due to the volume of pre-bid inquiries and changes in the scope of work. Once completed, the new metro station will provide vital connectivity to sectors that previously lacked access to a mass transit system, apart from limited bus services operated by the Gurugram city bus service.

This new metro station is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in the area and offer a more reliable and sustainable mode of transportation for residents, contributing to the overall development of Gurugram’s urban landscape.
