This decision follows extensive discussions about changing the venue due to unfavorable weather conditions in Kolkata, which was originally scheduled to host two of the playoff games, including the final.
In a strategic move, Mullanpur Stadium, the newly established home of the Punjab Kings, is set to host the remaining three playoff matches. This represents a significant milestone for the venue, as it will welcome high-stakes matches to a relatively new IPL location.
The venue change is part of a larger logistical adjustment initiated by the BCCI after a forced break in the season due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. When announcing the league’s restart, the BCCI indicated that venue modifications would be forthcoming, although specific details were initially withheld.
