Media plays vital role in a democracy: Governor

Sirsa, November 29 – Speaking at Chaudhary Devi Lal University Sirsa Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya said that media plays a very vital role in a democracy. He further said that media is a communication link between the government and the masses . He said that media disseminates the welfare schemes of the government among the people and that press is crucial in strengthening a democracy. He was speaking at the launch of the first edition of the Chaudhary devi lal University newsletter started by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.
The occasion was also graced by Vice Chancellor, Dr Ajmer Singh Malik along with Dr Amit Sangwan , Editor of the newsletter and Director Public Relations of the university.
The governor also talked of the New Education Policy and said that the policy aims to expertise students in professional aspects. He shared his vision for the university with the Dr. Ajmer Singh Malik and said that he wanted new job oriented courses to be started in the varisity so that professional skills can be imparted to the students that will eventually build a strong nation.
Dr. Malik put forth various student welfare schemes put in place by the university at the occasion. He said that the newsletter launched by the department of Journalism and Mass Communication will provide hands-on experience to the students in guidance with the teachers. He said that the newsletter would be an insight in the kaleidoscopic activities of the department. He encouraged the students and teachers of the department for this new feat.
