Miss World Contestants Begin Arriving in Telangana to Grand Traditional Welcome
Hyderabad, May 5, 2025 – As the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant gears up to unfold in Telangana later this month, contestants from across the globe have begun landing in Hyderabad, receiving a traditional Indian welcome that blends hospitality with cultural richness.
Among the early arrivals were Emma Deanna Cathryn Morrison from Canada and Jessica Scandiuzzi Pedroso from Brazil, who were warmly greeted by state officials with traditional tilak, garlands, and folk performances at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Miss World official Jonathan Mark Shaw was also welcomed with due honors by the Telangana government representatives.
According to organizers, over 120 contestants from various countries will arrive in Hyderabad between May 2 and 8. The pageant, which will run from May 10 to 31, will host both its opening and grand finale ceremonies in the city, spotlighting Telangana on the global cultural and tourism stage.
In a strategic move, the Telangana government has devised a comprehensive branding and investment promotion plan surrounding the event. The initiative seeks to enhance the state’s global image, highlight its tourism potential, and attract international investments.
An official release noted that the event would be broadcast in over 150 countries, offering an unparalleled platform to showcase Telangana’s UNESCO heritage sites, eco-tourism attractions, medical tourism, and spiritual destinations.
The participants will embark on curated tours across the state, visiting iconic spots such as the UNESCO-listed Ramappa Temple in Warangal and heritage structures from the Nizam era in Hyderabad.
In 2024, the state welcomed over 1.55 lakh international tourists, and officials are optimistic about a major tourism boost through this globally watched pageant.
