Nationwide Mock Drill Held Ahead Of NEET-UG Re-Examination

With just one day remaining until the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, authorities across the country conducted a large-scale mock drill on Saturday. The purpose of this exercise was to ensure that everything is in place for the smooth administration of one of India’s largest entrance examinations. The drill aimed to test preparedness at examination centers, verify security arrangements, and improve coordination among various agencies involved in the process.

Over 22.79 lakh medical aspirants are expected to take part in the re-examination on Sunday. The test is being held nearly seven weeks after the original NEET-UG exam was canceled due to allegations of a paper leak, which sparked widespread protests, political debates, and legal action throughout the country.

The re-examination will take place from 2 PM to 5:15 PM in 551 cities across India and in 14 cities abroad. Candidates eligible for compensatory time, including those with disabilities, will be granted additional time to complete the exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has advised students to arrive at their centers well in advance, noting that entry gates will close promptly at 1:30 PM.

To prevent any irregularities, the NTA has implemented a multi-layered security system. Confidential examination materials are being transported under strict protocols using GPS-enabled vehicles, accompanied by police escorts. CCTV surveillance has been installed at all examination centers, linked to central monitoring rooms, while Aadhaar-based biometric verification will be used to prevent impersonation.

According to the agency, over two lakh personnel—including police officers, district administration officials, observers, invigilators, and city coordinators—have been mobilized to oversee the examination process. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has chaired several review meetings to monitor these preparations.

Authorities have urged students not to believe rumors circulating on social media regarding leaked question papers or answer keys. To provide reliable information, the NTA has launched a verified WhatsApp communication channel for candidates.

Several states have announced free transportation facilities to assist students in reaching their centers on time. Examination centers are also being equipped with drinking water, electricity backup, fans, sanitation facilities, and medical support to ensure candidates can comfortably take the exam despite the summer heat.

As millions of students prepare for this crucial second chance at the medical entrance test, all attention is focused on Sunday’s examination and the efforts being made to restore trust in the process.
