PM Modi Joins World Leaders at G7 Summit in France
Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined several of the world’s most influential leaders on Tuesday at the 52nd G7 Summit in the picturesque French town of Évian-les-Bains. A highlight of the day was the traditional group photograph, in which the Indian Prime Minister stood alongside leaders of major economies and partner nations.
Hosted by France, the summit brought together leaders from G7 countries and invited partner nations. Before the official group photo, French President Emmanuel Macron personally welcomed PM Modi, reflecting the strengthening ties between India and France.
This year, India’s participation in the summit is particularly significant. Invited by President Macron, PM Modi’s presence marks India’s 13th appearance as a partner nation and his seventh consecutive participation in this prestigious gathering.
The Prime Minister arrived in France after a brief stop in Switzerland, where he met with Swiss President Guy Parmelin. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, their discussion focused on strengthening cooperation and enhancing the India-Switzerland partnership.
At the summit, PM Modi is scheduled to participate in an important session titled “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity.” This discussion will address global cooperation, sustainable development, economic growth, and the strengthening of international partnerships in the face of evolving global challenges.
In addition to participating in the main summit events, the Prime Minister is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with world leaders. These discussions will likely include Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and US President Donald Trump. Key topics will include trade, investment, technology, and strategic cooperation.
PM Modi’s visit to France follows his landmark trip to Slovakia, where India and Slovakia upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership. This move is expected to enhance collaboration in defense, technology, education, innovation, and trade.
As India continues to strengthen its global presence, PM Modi’s engagements at the G7 Summit highlight the country’s growing role in international diplomacy and its efforts to contribute to discussions on pressing global issues.
