“President Biden Warns of Arms Supply Halt to Israel Amidst Gaza Conflict”

Reported by Pushpa

President Joe Biden has issued a stern warning to Israel, stating that the US will cease supplying certain weapons if Israel conducts a major ground operation in the Gaza city of Rafah. This warning comes amidst concerns over potential civilian casualties in the densely populated area, which is Hamas’s last major stronghold in Gaza. Despite the US opposition, Israel seems poised for a significant invasion of Rafah.

President Biden emphasized that the US will not provide weapons and artillery shells for operations in population centers like Rafah. This marks the strongest warning yet from the US regarding a potential ground invasion and the first time such a threat has been made to halt weapon shipments to Israel.

The US has already delayed a shipment of bombs to Israel, indicating a significant shift in its stance. The decision is seen as a response to mounting pressure domestically to address the humanitarian situation and civilian casualties in Gaza.

While Israeli officials expressed disappointment over the delayed shipment, the Israeli military assured that disputes between the two countries would be resolved behind closed doors.

Efforts to reach a ceasefire and negotiations for the release of hostages and prisoners continue, with delegations from Israel and Hamas engaging in talks through mediators in Cairo.

The situation underscores the delicate balance of US-Israel relations and the complexities surrounding the conflict in Gaza, with both humanitarian and geopolitical considerations at play.
