Operation Sindoor: India Targets LeT, JeM & HM Camps in PoK – A Timeline of LeT’s Terror in India

In a bold and strategic military action, the Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terrorist camps of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This precision strike was a direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, including one Nepali national, last month.

The strikes were executed on the intervening night of May 6 and 7, 2025, with the Indian military targeting major terrorist bases at locations known to harbor and train anti-India militants. Among the most prominent targets were LeT strongholds in Muridke, Barnala, and Muzaffarabad.

Nine Terror Camps Targeted by Indian Forces:

  1. Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur – JeM

  2. Markaz Taiba, Muridke – LeT

  3. Sarjal, Tehra Kalan – JeM

  4. Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot – HM

  5. Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala – LeT

  6. Markaz Abbas, Kotli – JeM

  7. Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli – HM

  8. Shawai Nalla Camp, Muzaffarabad – LeT

  9. Syedna Bilal Camp, Muzaffarabad – JeM

The Indian government emphasized that the strikes were measured and non-escalatory, avoiding any Pakistani military infrastructure while sending a clear message to terror groups operating with impunity across the border.

Lashkar-e-Taiba: A History of Terror in India

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), one of the deadliest Pakistan-based terrorist organizations, was formed in 1985 by Hafiz Saeed with financial backing from Osama bin Laden. LeT has been responsible for some of the most devastating attacks on Indian soil.

Major Attacks by LeT in India:

  • Kashmir (1980s–Present): Regular attacks on Indian security forces and civilians.

  • Red Fort Attack (2000): Two Indian soldiers and a civilian were killed in Delhi.

  • Delhi Blasts (2005): 62 killed, over 200 injured in Sarojini Nagar, Govindpuri, and Paharganj.

  • 26/11 Mumbai Attacks (2008): 166 killed, 300 injured in a multi-day siege.

  • Mumbai Train Blasts (2006): 189 killed in seven coordinated blasts.

  • Pune German Bakery Blast (2010): LeT contributed to planning and surveillance.

India’s Firm Message

With Operation Sindoor, India has demonstrated its resolve to eliminate terror at the root. By striking at the heart of terror networks without escalating conflict, the country has made its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism crystal clear to the world.

A detailed government briefing is expected later today to provide more insights into the operation’s planning and success.
