Prime Minister’s meeting with Prime Minister of Japan on the sidelines of the G7 Summit
Today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met with H.E Mr. Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit in Apulia, Italy. Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Kishida’s congratulatory wishes on his third consecutive term and assured that bilateral ties with Japan will remain a priority during this term. Both leaders acknowledged the 10th year of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and expressed satisfaction with the progress made in their relationship. They discussed ways to enhance further cooperation, including exploring new areas and strengthening business-to-business and people-to-people cooperation.
India and Japan are collaborating on key initiatives such as the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, anticipated 5 trillion yen worth of Japanese investment in India from 2022-2027, and the India-Japan Industrial Competitiveness Partnership, focusing on transforming manufacturing cooperation. This meeting provided an opportunity to review these ongoing collaborative efforts.
The two leaders are looking forward to continuing their discussions at the next India-Japan annual summit.
