Delhi Faces 16-Hour Water Disruption: Jal Board Issues Urgent Advisory for October 1-2

Delhi residents, especially those in the western part of the city, are bracing for a significant water supply disruption as the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced a 16-hour shutdown due to urgent repair work. The water supply will be affected from 10:00 AM on October 1 until 2:00 AM on October 2, with several areas experiencing either low water pressure or a complete stoppage.

The disruption results from critical repairs at the Haiderpur Phase-I Water Treatment Plant. Specifically, the DJB is addressing issues on the header lines that feed the 1100 mm West Delhi Main pipeline and the 1200 mm Pitampura Main pipeline, both of which are crucial to the water supply in the affected areas.

Areas to be Affected

The water shortage will impact various neighborhoods in West Delhi, including but not limited to:

  • Varun Niketan
  • Raja Garden
  • Ramesh Nagar
  • Khyala
  • Rani Bagh
  • Moti Nagar
  • Sharda Puri
  • Tagore Garden
  • Tilak Nagar
  • Rajouri Garden
  • Hari Nagar

Residents in these areas are urged to plan and store enough water to last through the 16 hours of disruption.

Advisory from Delhi Jal Board

In its official statement, the Delhi Jal Board has recommended that all residents in the affected areas make arrangements to store sufficient water to meet their needs during the shutdown. To minimize inconvenience, DJB has also shared an emergency helpline for any urgent water-related issues. The helpline numbers 9650291442 and 1916 will be available to assist residents in case of water emergencies during the repair work.

Recurring Water Issues Highlighted

Water shortages have become a recurring issue in several parts of Delhi, and this latest notice serves as a reminder for residents to be prepared for occasional disruptions. The Delhi Jal Board continues to carry out essential repair and maintenance work to improve the water infrastructure across the city, but residents are advised to stay alert for such updates to manage the temporary inconveniences effectively.
