SGT University Launches Digital Constitution Museum Initiative

SGT University, in collaboration with the Advanced Study Institute of Asia, has launched “The Living Constitution – Digital Museum of the Constitution of India,” a unique initiative aimed at transforming how people engage with the country’s constitutional history. This digital platform presents the Constitution as a dynamic and evolving narrative, showcasing its journey through debates, ideas, and public memory.

The launch event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, academicians, and thought leaders who shared insights on constitutional values, governance, and the importance of digital innovation in public education. This initiative represents a significant step toward making constitutional knowledge more accessible, interactive, and relevant, especially for the younger generation.

Developed to commemorate 75 years of the Indian Constitution, the digital museum offers a wide range of resources, including Constituent Assembly debates, archival records, biographies of key contributors, historical timelines, and visual art. It is being hailed as the first comprehensive digital museum dedicated to the Constitution of India.

The platform also examines the social, political, and historical contexts in which constitutional ideas were formed, debated, and reinterpreted over time. It serves as a teaching tool, research guide, and knowledge repository for students, educators, and researchers. Visitors can access complete transcripts of the Constituent Assembly debates in both Hindi and English, along with detailed information about the committees and important discussions that shaped the nation.

Vice-Chancellor Hemant Verma described the initiative as a celebration of the Constitution as the moral foundation of India’s democracy. He emphasized that the platform aims to present constitutional values such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity in an engaging and immersive manner.

The museum also showcases the artistic dimension of the Constitution, featuring illustrations inspired by India’s rich cultural heritage. These artworks, created under the guidance of renowned artist Nandalal Bose and his team, visually represent India’s historical journey from ancient civilizations to the freedom movement.

Overall, “The Living Constitution” stands as an innovative effort by SGT University to promote awareness, encourage dialogue, and strengthen democratic understanding through the use of digital technology.
