SGT University conducts capacity building program for women’s upliftment and self-reliance

Gurugram: SGT University’s Atal Community Innovation Center (ACIC) successfully organized a two-day “Capacity Building Program.” The program aimed to empower women and promote the value of self-reliance among them. Rishi Sharma, Manager; Bakul Dev Rai, Incubation Associate; and Praveen Kumar, Professional, were present on behalf of ACIC at this event. The program was led by trainer Gautami Kataria from Jhajjar, who taught women the art of creating exquisite glass decorations, carry bags, and chandeliers used for home decoration. Over 50 rural women from neighboring villages participated in the program. The participants dedicated 10 hours a day to training, both at the university and in their own homes. Rishi Sharma emphasized the dedication of ACIC-SGTU to empowering women and providing them with better livelihood opportunities, noting that the center has carried out numerous such initiatives that have led to over 150 women becoming financially independent. “The program’s goal is to create a comprehensive ecosystem for businesses, facilitating the integration of rural women and university students into businesses while enhancing their economic well-being,” according to Bakul Dev Rai, Incubation Associate at ACIC. As a training participant, Pinky Chauhan thanked ACIC-SGTU and praised the program for creating a stimulating learning environment. The training was Chauhan’s first time attending, and she praised the university for providing a number of facilities, including transportation via the university bus. SGT University students will work with rural women to sell their creations through the “Students and Community Development Program,” with 70% of the proceeds going to the women directly. This program demonstrates the university’s commitment to societal advancement and neighborhood development. The Atal Community Innovation Center (ACIC) of SGT University is committed to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and social upliftment. Through a number of initiatives and programs, ACIC-SGTU works to empower people and communities so they can experience self-reliance and sustainable growth.
