Uttar Pradesh to Expand Civil Defence System to All 75 Districts

Lucknow: In a significant step to bolster internal security and emergency preparedness, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directives to expand the civil defence system to all 75 districts of the state. Previously operational in just 15 districts, this move is part of a broader strategy to build a more resilient and responsive security infrastructure.

The decision comes amid growing concerns over national security following recent tensions between India and Pakistan. The state government emphasized that this expansion aims to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s internal security apparatus, ensuring swift responses during emergencies and crises.

In an official statement, the government outlined the primary objectives of the initiative: to safeguard citizens, enable efficient relief operations, and instil a robust mechanism for managing disasters. “The civil defence system will play a pivotal role in coordinating relief work and managing public safety during emergencies,” the statement read.

Under the revised policy, thousands of civil defence volunteers will undergo training in key areas such as disaster management, first aid, and rescue operations. These trained individuals will serve as the frontline support during emergencies, natural calamities, or other unforeseen events.

To ensure smooth implementation, the government has prepared a detailed action plan. District officials have been instructed to mobilize necessary resources and establish dedicated training centres in each district. These centres will serve as hubs for capacity building and skill development of civil defence personnel.

Furthermore, public awareness campaigns will be rolled out to educate and engage citizens about the importance of civil defence and how they can contribute during emergencies. The state believes that community participation will be crucial in building a responsive and people-centric safety framework.

This move is seen as part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s broader vision to enhance public safety infrastructure across the state and prepare Uttar Pradesh to face any challenges with preparedness and unity.

The rollout of this plan is expected to begin in the coming weeks, marking a major milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s approach to internal security and civil protection.
