SGT University Hosts Sensitization Program on TB and HIV Awareness

SGT University, located in Gurugram, reaffirmed its commitment to public health education by organizing a “Sensitization Program on Awareness of Tuberculosis and HIV” on May 16, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The event took place in the C Block Auditorium and was a collaborative effort involving the Faculty of Indian Medical System, the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) under the Government of India, and the Department of AYUSH, Gurugram, Haryana.

 

The program featured the esteemed presence of Dr. Alka Singh, Civil Surgeon, who served as the Chief Guest. She was joined by Dr. Keshav, Deputy Civil Surgeon and District Tuberculosis Officer, and Dr. Manju Bangar, District Ayurvedic Officer of Gurugram. These distinguished speakers delivered impactful sessions that emphasized critical aspects of TB and HIV, focusing on prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment strategies.

 

Additionally, valuable insights were shared by Dr. Shyam Lal Singla, Advisor to SGT University; Dr. Sanjay, Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences (FMHS); Dr. Amit, Nodal Officer of SGT University; and Prof. Dr. Anil Sharma, Dean of the Faculty of Indian Medical System. They highlighted the importance of integrating traditional medicine systems with modern healthcare to combat infectious diseases and enhance public awareness.

 

The program aimed to sensitize over 80 participants, including Ayurvedic Medical Officers, community health officers, and students and faculty members from the university. Discussions not only addressed medical aspects but also focused on stigma reduction, community engagement, and cross-sector collaboration—all essential components in the fight against TB and HIV.

 

The event was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Bharat Vats, Head of the Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, and Dr. Parveen Yadav, Associate Professor in the Department of Kayachikitsa, who served as the Convenor and Co-Convenor, respectively.

 

SGT University continues to be a pillar of healthcare awareness, actively supporting national health missions through regular educational campaigns and outreach programs. The Sensitization Program served as a reminder of the university’s dedication to fostering a healthier and more informed society, reinforcing the significance of collaborative public health initiatives.
