Engineers’ Day Celebrates Innovation, Ideas and Solutions
National Engineers’ Day is being observed across India on September 15 to honour the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of the country’s most respected engineers, administrators and nation-builders. The day recognises the contribution of engineers who apply scientific knowledge and creative thinking to solve practical problems.
Sir M. Visvesvaraya is remembered for his contribution to irrigation, water management, infrastructure and industrial development. His work and public service continue to inspire students, professionals and institutions across the country. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1955.
Engineers’ Day also highlights the changing role of engineering in modern society. Professionals working in civil, mechanical, electrical, computer, agricultural, environmental, biomedical and other fields are contributing to developments that affect everyday life.
