16-Year-Old Dies After Zipline Accident At Agra Adventure Park

A tragic accident at an adventure park in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy who fell approximately 45 feet during a zipline ride. The incident occurred at Agra Chaupati in Tajnagri Phase-2, raising serious concerns about safety measures at amusement attractions.

The deceased has been identified as Kunal Agarwal, a Class XI student and resident of Firozabad. According to police reports, Kunal had traveled to Agra with his parents and younger brother for a family outing. After visiting the Taj Mahal and sightseeing around the city, the family stopped at Agra Chaupati before heading back home.

Officials stated that Kunal wanted to experience the zipline ride, for which the family purchased a ₹400 ticket. However, shortly after the ride began, the zipline mechanism allegedly malfunctioned due to a failure in the pulley lock system. As a result, Kunal lost his balance and fell from a height of around 45 feet.

Eyewitnesses reported panic at the site as the teenager struck a platform before crashing to the ground. A video of the incident circulated online, capturing the horrifying moment of the fall.

Kunal was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Following a complaint from the victim’s family, police registered a case under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The case has been filed against three individuals, including the owner and manager of the zipline operation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Syed Ali Abbas confirmed that two suspects, identified as Santosh Kumar Dubey and Abhishek, have been arrested.

Preliminary investigations revealed several alleged safety lapses at the site. Police stated that Kunal was reportedly not provided with a safety helmet, and no protective safety net or cushioning system was installed beneath the ride.

Authorities have now initiated a technical inspection of the zipline equipment to determine the exact cause of the malfunction. The incident has sparked widespread concerns about safety standards and operational negligence at adventure parks across the region.
