Gurugram Civil Hospital Plans Centralised Token System For OPD Patients
In an effort to reduce overcrowding and enhance patient services, the District Health Department is planning to introduce a centralized token system at the Civil Hospital in Sector 10A, Gurugram. Officials have stated that this initiative aims to streamline the Out-Patient Department (OPD) process and minimize patient waiting times.
Tenders for implementing the token management system and installing 26 LED touch-display panels throughout the hospital have already been submitted. The Public Works Department (PWD) issued the tender on Wednesday, and bids for the project will be accepted until May 27. Following this, a technical evaluation will take place before the project moves forward.
The new system will feature live token-display units outside all 20 OPDs, keypad caller systems, digital-signage media players, and centralized token-management software. These facilities will display real-time OPD queue status and important information for patients and visitors.
A senior PWD official, speaking anonymously, mentioned that the hospital’s existing token system will be upgraded with large touch-screen panels. This system will also maintain records of patients’ offline and reporting history, allowing hospital staff to manage patient movement more efficiently and reduce confusion outside the OPDs.
Currently, patients at the hospital often face delays due to repeated referrals for different examinations and procedures. Officials believe that the centralized token system will improve coordination between OPDs and patient care booths, ensuring smoother operations and quicker access to treatment.
The project is expected to be completed within the next seven months. In the meantime, the hospital administration has already taken several steps to enhance patient convenience. Senior Medical Officer and In-Charge, Dr. Neena Singh, stated that seating arrangements have been expanded outside the OPDs to alleviate overcrowding, and proper spacing between examination booths is being maintained for easier movement.
She also noted that encroachments outside the hospital premises have been cleared to provide safer and faster access for patients. Additionally, two new kiosks for pharmacy services and dairy products are expected to begin operations in the coming weeks.
This planned digital transformation aims to make healthcare services at Gurugram Civil Hospital more organized, accessible, and patient-friendly.
