9-Year-Old Binita Chetry from Assam Secures Third Place at Britain’s Got Talent 2025 Final

Assam’s nine-year-old sensation, Binita Chetry, has scripted history by securing third place at the prestigious Britain’s Got Talent 2025 finale, held on May 31 in the United Kingdom. She became the first Indian contestant to reach the finals of the globally acclaimed talent show, earning accolades not just from the audience but also from political leaders back home.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded her achievement in a heartfelt social media post. Sharing a clip from the finale on X (formerly Twitter), the CM wrote:
“Dancing her way to glory. Many congratulations to our very own Binita Chetry on securing the 3rd spot at Britain’s Got Talent final. Her performances have mesmerised audiences from the Brahmaputra to the Thames and made us all proud.”

In the viral video, Binita is seen standing among her co-finalists as her name is announced as the second runner-up. When asked about her journey, she responded joyfully:
“I am very happy and proud of myself, and it’s the best experience.”
She also expressed her gratitude with folded hands as the audience applauded.

British magician Harry Moulding won the competition, and LED dance group ‘The Blackouts’ claimed second place. The winner received a £250,000 cash prize and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance later this year.

Hailing from Bokajan in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, Binita’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. During her audition, she had shared her dream of buying a “pink princess house” with her winnings. Her father, Amar Chetry, a broiler farm owner and vice president of the All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union, was instrumental in supporting her dreams, arranging for her dance training in Guwahati and later in Jaipur.

Binita also thanked the Assam CM, saying,
“I want to personally meet our Chief Minister, Himanta Mama, in Guwahati, and thank him for his immense support and blessings in my journey.”

Her journey is a reminder that talent knows no age or borders. Binita has not only made Assam proud but also represented India on a global stage with grace and talent.
