Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri Crowned Miss World 2025 in Hyderabad
In a historic moment for Thailand, Opal Suchata Chuangsri has been crowned Miss World 2025, becoming the first Thai contestant to win the prestigious global title. The grand finale of the Miss World pageant took place on Saturday in Hyderabad, Telangana, marking a spectacular conclusion to a glamorous and inspiring evening.
Opal stood out among 107 contestants from across the world, edging past Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje Admassu, who finished as the runner-up. Her victory was not only a personal achievement but also a proud milestone for her nation.
At the finale, Opal donned a white gown adorned with opal-inspired floral designs, a symbolic nod to healing and strength, values she said she hopes to spread during her reign. The crown was handed over to her by Krystyna Pyszkova of the Czech Republic, Miss World 2024.
Interestingly, the pageant returned to India after a 28-year hiatus, with both the 2024 and 2025 editions being hosted in the country. Pyszkova herself had clinched the title in the previous edition held in India, where she outshone contestants from Lebanon, Trinidad and Tobago, and Botswana.
India’s contestant for 2025, Nandini Gupta, failed to make it to the Top 8 this year, a disappointment after India’s Sini Shetty had reached the Top 8 in 2024. India has historically done well at Miss World, with six winners to date—the most recent being Manushi Chhillar in 2017.
With this groundbreaking win, Opal Suchata Chuangsri not only makes history for Thailand but also sets the stage for a meaningful year ahead as Miss World 2025.
