Government Convenes All-Party Meeting in Wake of Operation Sindoor
In a significant political development, the central government today convened an all-party meeting at Parliament House in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, a high-level military and strategic mission that has captured national attention in recent days.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was attended by leaders from across the political spectrum, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, NCP’s Sharad Pawar, DMK’s M.K. Stalin, and representatives from other regional and national parties. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah provided detailed briefings on the status and objectives of Operation Sindoor, as well as its broader implications for national security.
According to sources, the government sought to build consensus and brief the opposition on the sensitive nature of the operation, which is reportedly aimed at preemptive counter-terrorism actions and securing key border regions. The meeting also discussed the potential geopolitical ramifications and measures to maintain internal peace and public confidence.
“The government is committed to transparency and cooperation with all political stakeholders. In times of national security, unity is our strength,” said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi following the closed-door session.
Opposition leaders expressed appreciation for being taken into confidence, but also called for continued updates and institutional mechanisms to ensure parliamentary oversight. “We stand united in the interest of the nation, but we also expect clarity and accountability,” said Congress leader Kharge while speaking to the media post-meeting.
This all-party engagement comes at a time when the country is on high alert, with heightened security measures in place in several states. Operation Sindoor has not been officially detailed by the government, but its scale and intensity have sparked wide public interest and debate.
Political analysts view this outreach as a move to reinforce a bipartisan front on national issues and prevent political polarization during a sensitive time.
Further briefings are expected as Operation Sindoor progresses, with the Prime Minister expected to address the nation later this week.
