International Yoga Day celebrated at SGT University, VC, Pro VCs, faculty and students perform Yoga

SGT University celebrated the 8th International Day of Yoga, organised by the Department of Swasthavritta & Yoga, Faculty of Indian Medical System, and Faculty of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences. In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st as International Day of Yoga. The theme of the 8th International Day of Yoga is “Yoga for Humanity.” The event started with a welcome address by Dr. Rajiv Rastogi, Dean, FNYS, followed by lamp lighting by all the dignitaries. The occasion was graced by the presence of the honourable Vice Chancellor, Dr. O.P. Kalra, Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Vikas Dhawan, Pro-VC Vinod Sharma, Dr. Sumer Singh, Advisor, Dean of various faculty, teaching and non-teaching staff and students. More than 200 people participated in the event. The Yoga protocol session was conducted by Mr. Rajneesh Yadav. The session was started with a brief introduction of Ashtanga Yoga, followed by joint relaxing exercises, stretching exercises, yogasana in various postures (standing, sitting, supine, and prone), Kapalbhati, Pranayama, and meditation. The session ended with a closing prayer. Concluding remarks and a vote of thanks were delivered by Dr. Prasanna Savanur, Dean, FIMS.
