Pahalgam Terror Attack Fallout: U.S. Calls for ‘Responsible Solution’ as India-Pakistan Tensions Escalate

Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. As hostilities intensified, the United States urged both nations to seek a “responsible solution” to prevent further deterioration of regional stability.

The situation along the Line of Control (LoC) remains volatile, with Pakistan violating the ceasefire agreement for the fourth consecutive day. The Indian Army has been responding strongly to the provocations. Residents along the border areas, especially in Jammu, Rajouri, and Poonch districts, have been forced to vacate their underground bunkers due to continued small arms fire.

Amid rising tensions, the deadline for Pakistani citizens on visas (excluding those on medical, diplomatic, and long-term visas) to leave India ended on Sunday. A senior Home Ministry official confirmed that almost all had exited the country, with ongoing verification checks.

In a major development, Pakistan has sought the involvement of Russia and China to investigate the Pahalgam terror attack. Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, in an interview with the Russian government-run RIA Novosti agency, proposed that an international team should investigate the allegations. He stated, “I think Russia or China or even Western countries can play a very, very positive role in this crisis, and they can even set up an investigation team to find out whether India or Mr. Modi is lying or telling the truth.”

Meanwhile, unrest continues within Kashmir. On Sunday, security forces carried out a demolition drive, dismantling 10 houses linked to terrorists through controlled explosions. The move has drawn growing opposition from several regional political parties, who claim the drive unfairly targets civilians without due process.

As the situation remains tense, international stakeholders are closely monitoring developments, hoping for a diplomatic resolution to avoid further escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
