PM Modi Visits Sikkim, Bengal, Bihar in Mega Tour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant multi-state visit on May 29, 2025, covering Sikkim, West Bengal, and Bihar as part of his developmental push ahead of the first anniversary of his third term in office.

The day began with the Prime Minister virtually addressing Sikkim’s 50th statehood anniversary celebrations from Bagdogra in West Bengal. Inclement weather prevented his visit to Gangtok, but he lauded the people of Sikkim for their democratic decision to join the Indian Union in 1975. He emphasized that Sikkim has become a symbol of cultural richness and envisions it as a future global hub for tourism and sports.

In West Bengal, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for a ₹1,010 crore City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in the districts of Alipurduar and Cooch Behar. The project aims to deliver Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to over 2.5 lakh homes and CNG to thousands of vehicles, furthering the Centre’s green energy mission.

The Prime Minister’s final stop was Bihar, where he inaugurated the ₹1,200 crore new terminal building of the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna. He also laid the foundation stone for a ₹1,410 crore civil enclave at Bihta Airport to boost aviation infrastructure and connectivity in the state. Both terminals are designed with modern amenities and inspired by regional heritage, including Mithila art.

Later in the evening, PM Modi led a grand 6-kilometre roadshow in Patna, starting from Aranya Bhawan near the airport to the BJP State Headquarters on Beerchand Patel Marg. Thousands of supporters lined the route, waving national flags and cheering for the Prime Minister, celebrating the recent success of Operation Sindoor and expressing their support ahead of Bihar’s upcoming Assembly elections.

This multi-state tour showcased the government’s focus on infrastructure, clean energy, and regional development, underlining its mission to transform India into a globally competitive and connected nation.
