The Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology celebrates Earth Day 2023 with great enthusiasm and fervor.

The Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council at SGT University celebrated Earth Day 2023 with great enthusiasm and fervor. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Sameer Pal Srow, Chairman of the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority, and Mr. Arvind Agrawal, Director of Forests, Environment, and Climate Change, who attended as the chief guest and guest of honor respectively. The program began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the guests, which signified the initiation of the event. The event was coordinated by Ms. Arvinder Kaur Pabla and Mr. Biswambhar Bose, faculty members of Mass Communication and Media Technology. Prof. Sushil Manav, Dean, Faculty of Mass Communication and Media Technology, extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced them to the audience. During his welcome speech, Prof. Sushil Manav emphasized the importance of Earth Day celebrations, stating that it is essential to recognize the need for sustainable development, ecological conservation, and environmental protection. He also remarked that the younger generation’s future is entirely dependent on the choices that we make today. The event started with an enlightening panel discussion, in which students from various faculties, including Mass Communication, Agriculture Science, and Law, participated.

The discussion aimed to create awareness among the audience regarding the current environmental issues, their impact on the planet, and ways to address them. The panelists deliberated on the need to use eco-friendly products, reduce carbon footprint, promote sustainable living, and adopt measures to mitigate climate change.

The esteemed guests, Mr. Srow and Mr. Agrawal addressed the audience, highlighting the challenges that we face regarding the environment and what the government is doing to tackle them. They shared their experiences and knowledge on various aspects of environmental conservation, ranging from waste management to air pollution and climate change. The speakers also emphasized the significance of individual and collective efforts to ensure the sustainability of our planet. The panel discussion was followed by the felicitation of the winning students, who presented innovative ideas to protect the environment and promote sustainable living. The judges for the competition, including Dr. Sarju Devi, Dr. Radhika Rai, and Mr. Shashi Kumar Pandey, congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of all participants. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sarju Devi, HOD, CLC, in which she expressed her gratitude towards the guests and participants for making the Earth Day celebrations a grand success. The program aimed to create awareness among the youth about the importance of environmental protection and sustainable development, and the need for collective efforts to address the challenges facing our planet. The program provided an excellent platform for students to express their ideas and showcased the significance of collective efforts toward building a sustainable future.
