PM Modi Highlights Development and Takes Swipe at Opposition in Vadodara
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a large gathering of young people in Vadodara, Gujarat, on Tuesday, highlighting development projects worth over Rs 35,000 crore. He spoke about infrastructure, education, and skills while also taking a political jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his recent campaign.
The event, titled ‘NaMo for Viksit Bharat,’ attracted an enthusiastic youth audience, greeting Modi with loud cheers. The atmosphere was energetic, enhanced by music, including Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’ and the song ‘Aari Aari’ from Dhurandhar, played as he made his entrance.
During his speech, Modi urged young people to be cautious of what he called misleading political claims. He referred to the term ‘Jhooth Ki Goonj,’ suggesting that some may attempt to mislead young Indians, but he expressed confidence that they would stand with the truth. His remarks seemed directed at Rahul Gandhi and the Congress’ ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign.
Alongside this political exchange, Modi emphasized his government’s focus on development. He discussed the Dedicated Freight Corridor and highlighted the successful operation of a double-stack container freight train between JNPT near Mumbai and Vadodara. He noted that a single train could transport cargo equivalent to over 250 trucks, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving freight movement efficiency.
Modi also addressed the financial pressures faced by students and middle-class families, announcing that the government is moving towards providing free online coaching from top teachers for students preparing for competitive examinations. This initiative aims to alleviate the burden of expensive coaching on families.
Education and employability were significant themes in his address. Modi stated that while degrees remain important, practical skills are becoming increasingly valuable as the job market evolves. He encouraged young people to focus not only on academic qualifications but also on developing skills that will help them adapt to changing workplace demands.
The Vadodara event successfully combined political messaging with announcements and discussions around infrastructure and education. While Modi used the platform to criticize the Opposition, his overarching message centered on development and preparing India’s youth for the future.
This visit aligns with the government’s ongoing promotion of a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ with infrastructure development, skill building, and greater access to education as key components of that vision.
