Andhra Woman Becomes First Indian to Complete NASA Program, Set to Travel to Space in 2029
Palakollu, Andhra Pradesh | June 24, 2025: Dangeti Jahnavi, a space enthusiast and electronics engineering graduate from Palakollu in West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, has made history by becoming the first Indian to complete NASA’s prestigious International Air and Space Program (IASP). She is also set to travel to space in 2029, marking a proud moment for the nation.
Jahnavi will journey to Titan’s Orbital Port Space Station, a U.S.-based space project scheduled for launch in the next four years. This selection makes her one of the few young global aspirants chosen for the mission and the first from India.
A graduate of Lovely Professional University, Jahnavi’s journey began with her passion for STEM education and space science. She has represented India on international platforms, participated in analog missions, completed deep-sea dives, and addressed students at ISRO programs and NITs across the country.
Her achievements include a provisional asteroid discovery through the International Astronomical Search Collaboration and recognition as the youngest foreign analog astronaut with Space Iceland for its geology training.
