The Faculty of Nursing, SGT University in collaboration with Nursing Teacher Association of India celebrated “International Women’s Day”

Continuing Nursing Education Department & Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Department, Faculty of Nursing, SGT University in collaboration with Nursing Teacher Association of India (NTAI), Delhi, NCR celebrated “International Women’s Day” under the theme DigitAll: Innovation & Technology for gender equality on 9th March 2023 at SGT University, Gurugram. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pity Koul, Dean, and Prof. (Dr.) Akoijam Mamata Devi, HOD, Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing Department Faculty of Nursing, SGT University. The celebration included a series of events like an expert talk on a theme by an eminent speaker
Dr. Leila Varkey, Commissioner – Lancet Citizen’s Commission for Reimagining India’s Health System for UHC and Advisor of an exploratory initiative of CEHAT and TISS Mumbai, Nukkad Natak to create awareness among general people at SGT Hospital, Intercollege Debate competition and Theme based cultural Dance on “Nari Shakti”. Ms. Ruchika Singh introduced the objectives and welcomed the expert and participants of the program, Prof. (Dr.) Pity Koul, Dean, Faculty of Nursing, unfolded the theme and focused on the need for the utilization of technology and innovation to create awareness regarding gender equality and equity. During the session, Dr. Leila Varkey talked about Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. The session was interactive and well-appreciated by the audience. In the Intercollege Debate competition four teams comprising two participants each from various faculties of SGT University participated for and against the theme- “DigitAll: Innovation & Technology for gender equality”. The Debate competition was judged by Dr. Sam Raj Nesamony, Professor, Department of CLC, and Dr. Priyanka, Associate Professor, Department of Physiotherapy as per fixed criteria. The first position was awarded to Team C, Ms. Nita & Mr. Nitin from the Faculty of Nursing, and the second position was awarded to Team D, Ms. Muskan & Ms. Yashaswani from the Faculty of Agriculture Sciences. Prizes were distributed to the winners by Guest Speaker Dr. Leila Varkey, Judges, and Dean, Faculty of Nursing, SGT University. The event was appreciated by the audience and delegates.
